Here are some of my absolute favourite, tried and tested maternity photoshoot locations around Manchester.
I am often drawn to outdoor locations when considering a spot for maternity photography. I don't think there's anything more beautiful than a pregnant mother embracing the elements of nature. Creating and growing life is a powerful force of nature. Selecting a location that honours that, just seems to make sense.
When choosing a location for pregnancy photography, I try to keep in mind the tones and colours as they will be the backdrop to your maternity photoshoot. I like to stick to neutral or earthy colour pallets like beaches, moorland, woodland and meadows.
Without further ado, here are a few of my all-time favourite pregnancy photoshoot locations.

THE BEACH AND SEA.
There is something so beautiful about a maternity session in water. I think it links back to it being such a powerful force of nature. Unpredictable and fierce. Perfectly honouring the strength and softness of a mother.
Some of my favourite beaches to visit are Formby Beach and Newborough Beach (Llanddwyn). Formby Beach has a beautiful mixture of forest, dunes and beach to play with. A little further (if you are up for a drive) you will find Newborough Beach (Llanddwyn). This is one of my favourite views in the northwest. It has a forest, dunes and on a clear day, you can see Snowdonia (Eryri) mountains in the background. Making them both stunning backdrops for maternity photography (if you're happy to get wet and sandy that is).
MEADOW
Imagine frolicking in long grasses, buttercups and wild red clover with your loved ones documenting this significant time in your motherhood journey. Of course, meadows are seasonal but come spring/summer they are one of my top locations for maternity photography in Manchester. See some of 2024's meadow magic.
Summer evenings are my favourite. There is something special about heading out after tea, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, listening to the birds and watching the sky change during the sunset, you can just feel the magic in the air.
Some of my favourite meadows can be found dotted around South Manchester in and amongst parks. Backing onto Fletcher Moss in Didsbury is Millgate Fields. You will often find me here chasing the sunset and creating magic during maternity photoshoots.
DRAMATIC CLIFF
Ok, so you want to bring a bit of drama to your maternity photoshoot? I've got you!
One of my favourite views in the UK is Ynys Llanddwyn a truly magical place. Picture this, sea views from a cliff surrounded by pink flowers spotting wild horses in the distance and watching the sun set behind the sea. There is honestly nothing more beautiful. Better yet you can head to Beaumaris on the way home for some fish and chips.
Just look through this gorgeous gallery and tell me it isn't one of the most beautiful places in the UK.
FOREST/RIVER.
Did you know there is a forest about a 40-minute drive from Manchester that will transport you to Canada? This location is for anyone up for an adventure and doesn't mind getting muddy boots.
The best thing about this spot is that it's gorgeous all year round. Most of the pines are evergreen so whatever the season this place is thriving making it a beautiful spot for maternity photography.
Check out this motherhood photoshoot I captured in this very location in the Peak District.
